A method and apparatus for managing locks in a database system is provided. A master node grants a lock on a first resource and a group of resources that includes the first resource to a first requester node. The requester node receives a mapping corresponding to the group of resources that may indicate that a lock already exists for a second resource in the group. If the requester node desires a lock on a resource located in the group, the requester node grants itself the lock without notifying the master node. A second requester node requests a lock for a particular resource in the group of resources. The first requester node grants the lock on the particular resource and updates the mapping to indicate that a different node holds a lock for the particular resource.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour gérer des verrous dans un système de bases de données. Un noeud maître alloue un verrou à placer sur une première ressource et sur un groupe de ressources comprenant cette première ressource, à un premier noeud demandeur. Le noeud demandeur reçoit une cartographie correspondant au groupe de ressources pouvant indiquer qu'un verrou existe déjà pour une seconde ressource du groupe. Si le noeud demandeur veut placer un verrou sur une ressource située dans le groupe, le noeud demandeur s'alloue lui-même le verrou, sans notification au noeud maître. Un second noeud demandeur demande un verrou pour une ressource particulière du groupe de ressources. Le premier noeud demandeur alloue le verrou de la ressource particulière et met à jour la cartographie pour indiquer qu'un noeud différent détient un verrou pour cette ressource particulière.
