A system, method and memory medium for injecting positional information into a geological data set for improved modeling of surfaces in a geological formation. The method involves: (1) displaying a cross section of the formation through a selected subset of wells, where the displayed cross section includes well picks for the selected wells; (2) opening a gap in an unconformity of the displayed cross section, where the gap is opened at one or more wells that intersect the unconformity, where the gap represents non-deposition and/or material that is missing from the formation due to erosion; (3) receiving user input specifying positions of tops within the gap; and (4) closing the gap, where closing the gap includes calculating positions of restored tops based on the positions of the tops specified within the gap, where the positions of the restored tops are usable to model one or more surfaces in the formation.
L'invention porte sur un système, un procédé et un support de mémoire pour injecter des informations de position dans un ensemble de données géologiques pour une modélisation améliorée de surfaces dans une formation géologique. Le procédé met en jeu les opérations consistant à : (1) afficher une coupe transversale de la formation à travers un sous-ensemble sélectionné de puits, la coupe transversale affichée comprenant des pics de puits pour les puits sélectionnés; (2) ouvrir un espace dans une non-conformité de la coupe transversale affichée, l'espace étant ouvert au niveau d'un ou plusieurs puits qui croisent la non-conformité, l'espace représentant un non-dépôt et/ou un matériau qui manquante de la formation en raison de l'érosion; (3) recevoir les positions spécifiant une entrée d'utilisateur de parties supérieures à l'intérieur de l'espace; et (4) fermer l'espace, la fermeture de l'espace comprenant le calcul de positions de parties supérieures restaurées sur la base des positions des parties supérieures spécifiées à l'intérieur de l'espace, les positions des parties supérieures restaurées étant utilisables pour modéliser une ou plusieurs surfaces dans la formation.
