ABSTRACT Salts of lithium or magnesium and an organic carboxylic acid, especially lithium acetate and/or magnesium acetate, are added to green molding sand to improve the pro- perties of hot green molding sand at 110-160°F (43.3-71.1°C). Magnesium acetate is preferred, especially in green molding sands used for casting steel.
