ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Salts of lithium or magnesium and an organic carboxylic acid, especially lithium acetate and/or magnesium acetate and a second water dispersible or water soluble green molding sand additive are added to green molding sand to improve the properties of hot green molding sand at 110-160°F (43.3-71.1°C). Magnesium acetate is preferred, especially in green molding sands used for casting steel.
