There are herein disclosed an additive for a lubri- cant or a fuel which comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of substituted hydroxyaromatic ester derivatives represented by the general formulae (I) and (II) Image wherein R1 to R5 are each an organic group having 6 or more carbon atoms, a, b, d, e, k and m are from 1 to 3, c, f, g, i and j are from 0 to 3, and h is from 0 to 4, but (f+g) is from 1 to 3, and (h+i) is from 1 to 6, an additive composition for a lubricant or a fuel, and a lubricating oil composition or a fuel composition contain- ing the above-mentioned additive. The above-mentioned additive for the lubricant or the fuel is desirable as an ashless detergent excellent in high-temperature stability in place of a metal detergent, and the lubricating oil composition or the fuel composition containing this additive can suitably be used as the lubri- cant or the fuel for an internal combustion engine which can comply with future exhaust gas controls.
L'invention concerne un additif pour lubrifiant ou carburant, comprenant au moins un élément choisi parmi des dérivés esters aromatiques hydroxy substitués représentés par les formules générales (I) et (II). Dans ces formules, R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4> et R<5> représentent chacun un groupe organique ayant au minimum six atomes de carbone; a, b, d, e, k et m représentent chacun un nombre pouvant aller de 1 à 3; c, f, g, i et j représentent chacun un nombre pouvant aller de 0 à 3; h représente un nombre pouvant aller de 0 à 4, à condition que f+g soit égal à un nombre allant de 1 à 3 et h+i soit égal à un nombre allant de 1 à 6. L'invention concerne également une composition d'additif pour lubrifiant ou carburant, contenant un tel additif, ainsi qu'une composition de lubrifiant ou de carburant contenant ledit additif. Cet additif, qui peut être utilisé comme agent de nettoyage sans cendre, est très stable aux températures élevées et peut remplacer les agents de nettoyage mécaniques. La composition de lubrifiant ou de carburant contenant ledit additif permet d'obtenir un lubrifiant ou un carburant pour moteur à combustion interne, permettant de respecter les futures prescriptions relatives aux gaz d'échappement, prescriptions qui sont très strictes.
