21489-6724 Case 3-14877/+/CGM 290 ADDITIVES FOR MATERIALS Abstract of a Disclosure The invention relates to organic material, except materials and compositions for medical purposes, con- taining in addition aldosemercaptals of the formula I Image (I) wherein n can be an integer from 2 to 6, and wherein R1 and R2 are identical or different, and in each case are C1-C18-alkyl, which is unsubstituted, substituted or interrupted by -O- or -S-, or are -(CH2)r-CO-N(C1-C17- alkyl)2, r being 1 or 2, or are phenyl, benzyl or -(CH2)r-CO-O-R3, in which r can be 1 or 2 and R3 is an alkali metal or C1-C14-alkyl; also wherein R1 and R2 are -CH2-CH(OH)-R4, in which R4 is hydrogen, or C1-C16- alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by -OH, or -CH2-Y-(C1-C15-alkyl), in which Y is -O- or -S-; or wherein R1 and R2 together form -(CH2)m-, in which m can be an integer from 2 to 4; to the use of the aldose- mercaptals in lubricants and hydraulic fluids which can be based on oil or water or mixtures thereof, or in plastics; and to some novel aldosemercaptals.
