The invention relates to alkaline cells containing manganese dioxide cathode active material. A substance selected from the group of compounds Bi2O3, PbO2, SnO2, Co3O4, CoO, Bi2O33ZrO3 and K2Cr2O7 is added to the cathode of conventional alkaline cells typically having an anode comprising zinc and cathode comprising manganese dioxide and an alkaline electrolyte. The additive increases the specific capacity (amp-hr/g) of the manganese dioxide in the cathode.
Des piles alcalines contiennent une cathode dont le matériau actif est le dioxide de manganèse. On ajoute une substance choisie dans le groupe de composés incluant Bi¿2?O¿3?, PbO¿2?, SnO¿2?, Co¿3?O¿4?, CoO, Bi¿2?O¿3?3ZrO¿3? et K¿2?Cr¿2?O¿7?, à la cathode de piles alcalines classiques contenant typiquement une anode comprenant du zinc et une cathode comprenant du dioxyde de manganèse et un électrolyte alcalin. Cet additif accroît la capacité spécifique (amp-hr/g) du dioxyde de manganèse de la cathode.
