ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel compounds comprising poly(diphenylene ether) backbones having hydrolyzable organosilicon groups bonded thereto are useful in improving adhesion between resinous media and inorganic oxide surfaces. These organo-silicon-grafted polyethers are characterized by the repeating units: (I) Image wherein R and R1 are each, individually, hydrogen or methyl; E is the residue obtained by removing the hydroxyl groups from a dihydric polynuclear phenol in which the hydroxyl groups are attached to different nuclei; R2 is a divalent organic radical; R3 is hydrogen or alkyl of up to 4 carbon atoms; n is an integer having a value of from 1 to 3; and X i8 a hydrolyzable group.
