1090-19 ADHESIVE APPLICATOR ABSTRACT An adhesive applicator comprises a transfer roller, a format roller provided with application members distributed over its periphery, in a predetermined format, and a collection roller, which is disposed before the transfer roller in the direction of rotation. In operation, portions of a uniform layer of glue are transferred from the transfer roller onto the format roller, and thence to workpieces required to be coated with glue. To prevent glue thrown from the application members from contaminating the apparatus and being lost as wastage, the collection roller is disposed before the transfer roller in direction of rotation of the format roller. The collection roller forms a troughlike nip with the transfer roller for collecting and holding the thrown glue for reuse.
