A desktop book binding device for binding a stack of material such as paper along a stack edge using a cold set aqueous adhesive. The desktop book binding device is an office system having an adhesive storing compartment (26) fluidly connected to a disposable, non-refillable adhesive cartridge (10) with an applicator belt (32) therein. The applicator belt (32) applies adhesive to the plurality of edges when a carriage (200) drives the cartridge (10) along the sheets of paper.
