ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An adhesive composition based on a monomeric ester of .alpha.-cyanacrylic acid and a modifying agent, viz. a monomeric fluorinated ether of dimethylvinylethynylcarbinol of the formula: Image wherein R is CH2(CF2)nH or CH2(CF)nCF3; n = 2 to 10. Owing to the addition of a monomeric fluorinated ether of dimethlvinyl- ethylnylcarbinol as a modifying agent into the adhesive compo- sition, mechanical strength and water-resistant of the adhe- sive bond are improved. Thus, an ultimate shear strength of the adhesive bond produced from the adhesive composition according to the present invention after keeping in water for 10 days is equal to 119-185 kgf/cm2.
