ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Adhesives consisting essentially of polyvinyl alcohol or ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer, a crystalline solvent for the polymer component (such as urea, thiourea, acetamide, ammonium formate, etc.) and a viscosity reduc- ing diluent (such as water, glycols, etc.) are disclosed. The adhesives are particularly suitable for cellulosic substrates and provide excellent ambient temperature water resistance while being fully repulpable in hot water.
