ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides an adhesive paste comprising (1) an adhesive material, (2) water, (3) an organic solvent miscible with water, and (4) a gelling agent which is character- ized in that pullulan or pullulan derivative is used either alone or in mixture as said adhesive material. Owing to the use of pullulan or pullulan derivative, the adhesive paste of this invention is far superior to the hitherto disclosed ones in smoothness of application and ability to be spread into a uniform thin layer without exhibiting any excessive stringness. Further, when the adhesive paste is produced, the time period of cooling necessary for the solidification can be controlled by appropriate- ly changing the amount of pullulan or pullulan derivative to be used. Furthermore, the use of pullulan or pullulan derivative causes such excellent properties that the resulting adhesive paste is less affected in hardness by the environmental tempera- ture, so that the paste can be used with stability regardless of season.
