A valve cover assembly comprising a valve cover (21) wherein the valve cover has a mating surface (26) adapted to e attached to a cylinder head (20) of an internal combustion engine having a continuous bead of adhesive (22) disposed on the mating surface (25). An engine assembly comprising one or more valve covers (21), which has a mating surface (26) and one or more cylinder heads (20) having mating surfaces (25) adapted to fit to the mating surfaces (26) of the valve covers (21) wherein each valve cover (21) is adhesively bonded to a cylinder head. A method for bonding a valve cover (21) to a cylinder head (20) comprising a) applying to a valve cover (21) or a cylinder head (20), wherein the valve cover (21) has a mating surface adapted to be mated with a mating surface of a cylinder head, (25), a continuous bead (26) or film of adhesive (22) on the mating surface of the valve cover (26) or the cylinder head (25); b) contacting the mating surface of the valve cover (26) with the mating surface of the cylinder head (25) such the continuous bead or film of adhesive (22) is disposed between the mating surfaces of the valve cover (26) and the cylinder head (25); c) curing the adhesive (22) to form a permanent bond between the mating surfaces of the valve cover (26) and the cylinder head (25) wherein the adhesive forms a seal between the valve cover (21) and the cylinder head (20).

Cette invention concerne aussi un procédé de liaison d'un cache soupape (21) avec une tête (20) de cylindre qui consiste (a) à appliquer à un cache soupapes (21) ou à une tête de cylindre (20), ce cache soupape (21) possédant un plan de joint adapté pour être accolé à un plan de joint de tête de cylindre (25), un cordon (26) continu, un film ou un adhésif (22) sur le plan de joint du cache soupapes (26) ou de la tête de cylindre (25), (b) à mettre en contact le plan de joint du cache soupape (26) et le plan de joint de la tête de cylindre (25), de sorte que le cordon continu, le film ou l'adhésif (22) soit positionné entre les plans de joint du cache soupapes (26) et de la tête de cylindre (25), et à faire durcir l'adhésif (22) de façon à former une liaison permanente entre les plans de joint du cache soupape (26) et de la tête de cylindre (25), l'adhésif formant un joint entre le cache soupapes (21) et la tête (20) de cylindre.
