ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved gas knife wherein a coating which is generally uniform across the width of a paper web can be applied thereto. The gas knife contains a flexible gas flow modification member located adjacent to the inside of the nozzle of the gas knife for modifying the flow of gas whereby the coating weight can be adjusted differentially across a web being coated.
