- 12 - ADJUSTABLE EXTENSION FOR SOCKET WRENCHES OR THE LIKE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Extensions to socket wrench sets or ratchet wrench sets are provided in one or two predetermined lengths which are not always the most convenient length of the operation being performed. This device provides a hollow handle en- gaging portion with internal splines and a splined exten- sion shaft slidable therein and having a tapered clamping sleeve surrounding the extension and screw threadably en- gaging the end of the handle into which the splined exten- sion slides. A standard socket engaging end is provided on the other end of the extension. When the clamping sleeve is loosened, the extension can be moved endwise relative to the handle and when the desired overall length is obtain- ed, the sleeve is tightened thus clamping the two parts to- gether against endwise movement with the splines preventing rotation of one part relative to the other.
