ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to shoes which are capable of accomodating and fitting different foot widths. The shoes contain elements which deform based upon the size of the foot inserted into the shoe. In one embodiment, a shoe upper has deformable side members which laterally deform and slide into and out of a portion of a sole assembly. In a second embodi- ment, the shoe upper deformable side members vertically deform in combination with a deformable sole assembly.
