The present invention is directed to a novel adjustable diameter hair curler which is extremely lightweight, portable, and suitable for travel. The novel adjustable curler includes a sheet (10) of a flexible material such as a plastic or fabric or backing material. The sheet (10) has a first planar side (14) and a second planar side (18) opposite said first planar side. Attached to the first side (14) of the sheet (10) is an array of hook-type elements (12) from a hook and loop type fastening system such as VELCRO® brand hook and loop fasteners available from VELCRO Industries of Manchester, New Hampshire. The hook-type elements (12) are generally arrayed over the bulk of the first side (14). Attached to at least a portion of the second side (18) are loop-type fasteners (16) or a material which will stick to the hook-type fasteners (12). By rolling the sheet (10) to form a cylinder so that a portion of the sheet overlaps another portion of the sheet, the hook and loop fasteners (14, 16) may interact to hold the cylinder's shape with relative ease and complete adjustability of cylinder diameter. Lock-in of the shape may be accomplished easily with a single hand. For storage, the sheets (10) may be completely flattened for storage or transport in a very minimal volume. ®
L'invention concerne un bigoudi original à diamètre réglable, extrêmement léger, portable et facile à emporter en voyage. Le bigoudi comprend une feuille (10) d'un matériau flexible tel qu'un plastique, un tissu ou un matériau de renfort. La feuille (10) présente une première face plane (14) et une seconde face plane (18) située face à la première. La première face (14) de la feuille (10) comporte une série d'éléments de type crochet (12) faisant partie d'un système de fixation par crochets et boucles tel que ceux de la marque VELCRO3, fabriqués par VELCRO Industries, Manchester, New Hampshire. Les éléments de type crochet (12) recouvrent généralement la majeure partie de la première face (14). Une partie au moins de la seconde face (18) comporte des éléments de fixation de type boucle (16) ou bien un matériau capable d'adhérer aux éléments de fixation de type crochet (12). Quand on roule la feuille (10) pour former un cylindre de façon qu'une partie de la feuille en recouvre une autre, l'interaction des éléments à crochets et à boucles (14, 16) permet de conserver la forme cylindrique avec une facilité relative et un réglage parfait du diamètre du cylindre. On fixe facilement la forme d'une seule main, et on peut aplatir complètement les feuilles (10) afin de les ranger ou de les transporter dans un volume très réduit.
