The present invention provides an adjustable, flexible headgear band (10). The band (10) comprises a first end (20) and a second end (30) which overlap. The first end (20) comprises a plurality of longitudinally spaced slots (40) therein. The second end (30) comprises a resilient fastener (50) formed integrally with the second end (30). The resilient fastener (50) comprises a channel (54) to slidably receive the first end (20) in overlapping engagement with the second end (30). The fastener (50) comprises a fastener surface (56) from which at least one flange (52) extends to engage and be seated in one of the plurality of slots (40) of the first end (20). The fastener surface (56) is resiliently bowable in a direction away from the first end (20) upon application of compressive force to the fastener (50). Upon application of such compressive force, the at least one flange (52) is unseated from the slot (40) in which it is seated so that the first end (20) can be slid relative to the fastener (50) (and thereby the second end (30)). The second end (30) further comprises at least one latitudinally extending notch (70) adjacent the fastener to facilitate bowing of the fastener surface (56). Preferably, two such notches (70, 72) are provided, one extending from the top of the second end toward the center thereof, and one extending from the bottom of the second end toward the center thereof.
L'invention concerne une bande (10) réglable et flexible destinée à être fixée à un couvre-chef. La bande (10) comprend une première extrémité (20) et une seconde extrémité (30) qui s'accouple à la première extrémité (20) sur laquelle sont ménagées une pluralité de fentes (40) espacées le long de la première extrémité. La seconde extrémité (30) comporte une attache (50) résiliente solidaire de la seconde extrémité (30). L'attache résiliente (50) comprend un passage (54) destiné à recevoir la première extrémité (20) qui va s'accoupler de manière coulissante avec la seconde extrémité (30). L'attache (50) présente une surface (56) d'attache à partir de laquelle fait saillie au moins une bride (52) conçue pour s'accoupler dans l'une des fentes (40) ménagées sur la première extrémité (20). La surface (56) d'attache peut être bombée élastiquement et faire saillie à partir de la première extrémité (20) sous l'effet d'une force de compression exercée sur l'attache (50). Sous l'effet d'une telle force, une au moins des brides (52) est retirée de la fente (40) dans laquelle elle était accouplée de façon à ce que la première extrémité puisse être glissée par rapport à l'attache (50), ce qui permet aussi de faire glisser la seconde extrémité. La seconde extrémité (30) comprend en outre au moins une entaille transversale (70) adjacente à l'attache de manière à faciliter le bombement de la surface (56) d'attache. La seconde extrémité présente de préférence deux entailles (70, 72), dont l'une fait saillie à partir de la partie supérieure de la seconde extrémité en direction de son centre et l'autre fait saillie à partir de la partie inférieure de la seconde extrémité en direction de son centre.
