Abstract of the Disclosure In a printing apparatus adapted to work on the electrophotographic principle there are disposed between a light source and a rotating mirror or a photoelectric data carrier optical components by means of which the light beam being emitted from the light source is shaped and focused. These optical components are combined to form an optical unit which is mounted on two guide rails for displacement therealong. These are attached at their ends to two attachment pieces, each of which has a centering pin. The optical unit is positioned in the printing apparatus by sliding the centering pins into centering bores which are provided in the printing apparatus. This permits an accurate positioning of the optical unit in the beam between light source and rotating mirror or data carrier. Preferably the guide rails have a circular cross-section and the mountings are rotatable about one of the guide rails. The extent of the rotation is determined by an adjuster screw which can be screwed through the mounting towards the other of the guide rails.
