ABSTRACT An adjustable link assembly for transmitting loads in opposite directions is disclosed. The assembly includes a socket and a shank. The socket has an internally threaded bore and the shank has an externally threaded portion threadably engaged in the internally threaded bore, the threaded connection transmitting loads axially in opposite directions between the socket and the shank. The shank and the socket are relatively rotatable to vary the overall length of the link assembly, A predetermined minimum length of threaded contact is maintained between the shank and socket through which the loads may be transmitted, a spring member being carried by the socket and movable into engagement with the shank to prevent a decrease in the length of contact between the threads on the shank and socket below that pre- determined minimum.
