A prefabricated adjustable modular staircase designed to be rigidly mounted and having at least one side provided with a stiffener (1). At each step, and on each side having a stiffener (1), only one staircase element, i.e. a flanged crossbeam (7a) or a wedge (6), need be adjusted to achieve the desired rise. Alternatively, said element is suitably predesigned for this purpose.
