A stop assembly (50) for predetermining the maximum downward travel distance or rebound of a vehicle axle/suspension system (10) includes a chain (51) or woven strap immovably atttached at its lower end to each beam (13) of the axle/suspension system (10). An uppermost end of the chain (51) or strap is attached to a cam (56) adjusted by turning a threaded bolt (60) in a bracket (55) holding the cam (56) to move the cam (56) and hence the chain (51) or strap vertically.
