ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sawdust shear apparatus to enable cleaning of the band saw of a band mill. The apparatus has a housing to carry the shear. There is a first recess within the housing and a base. A piston extends from the base and is slidably received within the first recess. The housing can be reciprocated and thus move the shear rela- tive to the base. The apparatus compensates for wear, and can be moved out of contact is required, for example when training a saw.
