ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE ADJUSTABLE SENSOR RESPONSIVE TO VEHICLE ACCELERATION A vehicle sensitive seat belt retractor including two locking pawls acting on a single ratchet wheel and operable in response to actuation of a vehicle sensitive sensor. The pawls are positioned relative to the sensor so that the force required to lock the retractor is uni- form regardless of the direction of the acceleration. Preferably, the support for the sensor includes two mutually adjustable parts, one of which carries a ring which supports the sensor, which is preferably a ball, and the other is connected to the retractor housing.
