ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The adjustable wrench has a housing having a handle, a fixed jaw and a movable jaw mounted to slide relative to the fixed jaw. A spindle is mounted for rotat- ion to the housing and is immovable relative to the housing in a direction parallel to its axis of rotation. The spin- dle has a head which is rotatably mounted thereto and which is movable in the direction of the axis upon rotation of the spindle. The movable jaw has a slot for accommodation of the head and is caused to slide by the head upon rotat- ion of the spindle. The structure of the wrench can be modified by substitution of a non-rotatable spindle having a threaded outer wall which is accommodated in the threaded bore of a roller. Rotation of the roller causes the spindle to move linearly with resulting movement of the movable jaw relat- ive to the fixed jaw.
