The application relates to an ADPglucose transporter protein, or a modification or fragment thereof capable of ADPglucose transport activity which may be isolated from plant amyloplasts. The application further relates to DNA molecules encoding said transporter, plants cells transformed with the DNA molecules and also methods of regulating starch production in plants or plant cells by modulating ADPglucose transport.
