ABSTRACT Hydrogen gas streams containing small quantities of free oxygen are found to form oxygenated reaction products which are strongly adsorbed and interfere with the adsorption characteristics of zeolite adsorption beds used to purify such streams and also to adversely affect the purity of the product gas. The problem is solved by employing an auxiliary zeolite- containing adsorption bed to dry that portion of the product hydrocarbon gas stream which is utilized in purge desorbing the primary adsorption beds. This procedure avoids water- loading build-up in the primary adsorption beds and conse- quently avoids increasing water vapor content in the product gas.
