18 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An advance drive means for a pipe snake of the type including a roller set for rolling off the snake and reversible for selective advance or retraction of the snake is improved by an additional drive means associated with the pipe snake to impart to the pipe snake periodic longitudinal movements at least in the direction opposed to the advance or retraction produced by the roll-off motion of the rollers. The periodic longitudinal movements improve the efficiency of cleaning of tools mounted to the pipe snake.
