L'invention concerne un actionneur comportant un piston actif, un cylindre intérieur de coulissement (7, 7') et un cylindre (5, 5') extérieur dans lequel ledit cylindre de coulissement (7, 7') est précontraint, l'un des cylindres étant en matériau à dilatation thermique négative ou proche de zéro, l'autre cylindre ayant une dilatation thermique positive, dans lequel le matériau du cylindre à dilatation négative ou proche de zéro est un des matériaux suivants: - le .gamma.-ZrMo2O8 en structure cubique, - le Zr2WP2O12, - une faujasite silicieuse, - le LU2(WO4)3, - le ZrW2O8 en phase cubique comportant des nanograins dont la taille est sensiblement comprise entre 10 nm et 75 nm, ou - une quelconque combinaison possible de ces matériaux.
