A method of resetting a trellis-coded modulation (TCM) encoder to a known state, the TCM encoder including a reset input that resets the TCM encoder to the known state when held at a reset level for a plurality of symbol clock cycles, the method including identifying an event to occur in the future that requires the TCM encoder to be reset to the known state; and holding the reset input of the TCM encoder at the reset level beginning the plurality of clock symbol cycles before a time the event will occur so that the TCM encoder will be reset to the known state immediately before the event occurs.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de réinitialisation à un état connu d'un codeur TCM (Trellis-Coded Modulation), c'est-à-dire un codeur à modulation par codage en treillis. Ce codeur TCM comporte une entrée de réinitialisation qui réinitialise à l'état connu le codeur TCM quand il est tenu à un niveau de réinitialisation pendant une pluralité de cycles d'horloge de symboles. Le procédé consiste à identifier un événement devant se produire ultérieurement et qui nécessite que le codeur TCM soit réinitialisé à l'état connu. Le procédé consiste ensuite à maintenir l'entrée de réinitialisation desservant le codeur TCM au au début du niveau de réinitialisation pendant la pluralité considérée de cycles de symboles d'horloge avant un instant où l'événement se produira de façon que le codeur TCM soit réinitialisé à l'état connu immédiatement avant que l'événement ne se produise.
