An LED illumination assembly for use in lighting the outside of a tractor trailer truck is disclosed. The invention comprises an array of several LEDs located on a printed circuit board. The circuit board and LEDs are housed in a protective assembly which is attached to a housing attached to the truck. The attachment allows for electrical power to be transferred to the circuit board. A lens covers the protective circuit board and urges it against the housing. In addition the lens covers the housing as well. The lens protects the LEDs from damage caused by shock and vibration. The LEDs illuminate the configuration of the tractor and trailer. The LEDs are contained in a small amount of space, which increases aerodynamic performance of the illumination assembly, and decreases the probability of damage to the invention from objects and other vehicles.
