A hand held aerosol actuator (10) involving an aerosol source and a cham- ber (24) having walls (30) defining a con- striction aperture (32). The aerosol source communicates with the chamber and di- rects an aerosol dose along an axis (36) into the chamber. The constriction aper- ture is coaxial with the exit orifice (26) and is dimensioned such that the respirable mass of the aerosol dose is increased rel- ative to the respirable mass of an aerosol dose expelled through a like actuator not having the constriction aperture.

Un actuateur (10) pour aérosol tenu à la main comprend une source d'aérosol ainsi qu'une chambre (24) présentant des parois (30) définissant une ouverture constrictive (32). La source d'aérosol communique avec la chambre et oriente une dose d'aérosol le long d'un axe (36) jusque dans la chambre. L'ouverture constrictive est coaxiale avec l'orifice de sortie (26) et est dimensionnée de manière que la masse respirable de la dose d'aérosol est augmentée par rapport à la masse respirable d'une dose d'aérosol expulsée par un actuateur similaire ne présentant pas d'ouverture constrictive.
