Aerosol drug delivery devices (10) incorporating percussively activated heat packages (32) are disclosed. The heat packages include a percussive igniter (40) and a fuel (50) capable of undergoing an exothermic oxidation-reduction reaction when ignited by the percussive igniter. The drug delivery devices disclosed can be activated by an actuation mechanism to vaporize a thin solid film (56) comprising a drug disposed on the exterior of a heat package. Metal coordination complexes of volatile drugs, and in particular nicotine, from which the drug can be selectively vaporized when heated are also disclosed. The use of aerosol drug delivery devices comprising thin films of nicotine metal salt complexes for the treatment of nicotine craving and for effecting smoking cessation are also disclosed.
Cette invention a pour objet des dispositifs de distribution de drogue par aérosol (10), intégrant des conditionnements thermiques activés par percussion (32). Ces conditionnements thermiques incluent un allumeur à percussion (40) et un combustible (50) pouvant subir une réaction d~oxydoréduction exothermique lors de l~inflammation de celui-ci par l~allumeur à percussion. Les dispositifs de distribution de drogue présentés ici peuvent être mis en action à l~aide d~un mécanisme actionneur afin de vaporiser une fine pellicule solide (56), comprenant une drogue placée à l~extérieur d~un conditionnement thermique. Cette invention a également pour objet des complexes de coordination métalliques de drogue volatiles, notamment de nicotine, à partir desquels la drogue peut, une fois chauffée, être vaporisée de manière ponctuelle. Cette invention concerne également l~utilisation de dispositifs de distribution de drogue par aérosol, comprenant de minces couches de complexes métalliques de sel de nicotine, pour le traitement de la dépendance à la nicotine et permettant la désaccoutumance au tabac.
