A B S T R A C T An after-chlorinated ethylene/butene-1 copolymer useful as a rubber material having especially good cold resistance characterized by having (a) 1 to 2 methyl groups per 100 carbon atoms, (b) a chlorine content of 25 to 35% by weight, (c) a weight average molecular weight of not less than 100,000, (d) a heat of fusion, determined by differential scanning calorimetry, of not more than 0.5 cal/g, and (e) an ethylene content of 93 to 97% by weight and a butene-1 content of 7 to 3% by weight. A process for its production is also provided.
