Abstract of the Disclosure A process for after-treating an offset printing plate, which has preferably been obtained by transferring a silver image by the silver complex diffusion process to the surface of a metal plate and which has hydrophobic printing areas and hydrophilic non- printing areas is provided. The aftertreatment is carried out by applying a protective lacquer only to the hydrophobic printing areas. As protective lacquer there is used a solvent-free, photopolymer- isable system which consists substantially of at least one ethyl- enically unsaturated photopolymerisable monomer and/or prepolymer, photoinitiator and optionally a polymerisation catalyst. The plate which is coated imagewise with the photopolymerisable pro- duct is then exposed until the polymerisable product has solidi- fied. The offset printing plate thereby obtained shows a good mechanical stability and is particularly resistant to abrasion.
