Abstract: The present invention is directed to novel agents for the prophylaxis and treatment of heart failure, which comprise as active ingredients a 2-oxo-imidazolidine compound of the formula: Image (I) wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different and each represent a lower alkyl group, R is a phenyl-substituted lower alkyl group, and R4 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
