This invention provides an agent for use in the treatment of urinary outlet obstruction associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia, which contains an .alpha.1c receptor subtype-selective blocking agent as an active ingredient and does not exert influence upon blood pressure. This invention is useful as medicines, particularly as a therapeutic preparation of urinary outlet obstruction associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia showing no influence on blood pressure.
