An agent for periodontal disease includes, as an active component, a methanebisphosphonic acid derivative or a hydrate thereof represented by the general formula (I): (see Formula I) [wherein X, Y, m, n, ~, A, B, R1, R2, R3 and R4 have the same meanings as defined in the description] The methanebisphosphonic acid derivative represented by the general formula (I) or a hydrate thereof according to the present invention has activities such as inhibitory effect on cell infiltration to the affected part associated with periodontal disease, and is useful for the prophylaxis or treatment of periodontal disease.

L'invention concerne des médicaments permettant de soigner les parodontopathies, ces médicaments renfermant, comme principe actif, des dérivés d'acide méthanebisphosphonique représentés par la formule générale (I), ou des hydrates de ces dérivés: X, Y, m, n, <u>...</u>, A, B, R<1>, R<2>, R<3> et R<4> étant chacun tel que défini dans la description. Les dérivés d'acide méthanebisphosphonique représentés par la formule générale (I), ou les hydrates de ceux-ci, sont notamment efficaces pour inhiber l'infiltration cellulaire dans un foyer d'infection dû à une parodontopathie, et peuvent donc prévenir et traiter efficacement les parodontopathies.
