.beta.-peptides are described as active substances suitable for the reduction of cholesterol-uptake and lipid-uptake from the gut. .beta.-peptides can act as inhibitors for the promoting proteins (e.g. scavenger proteins) and/or they can act as precipitants of bile salt micelles and unilamellar vesicles. In order to act as inhibitor, they need to have amphipathic character and to form a helical structure, and in order to act as precipitant, they need at least two positive charges positioned such as to allow precipitation of cholesterol and lipids comprising bile salt micelles and unilamellar vesicles in the gut.
L'invention concerne des peptides .beta. en tant que substances actives appropriées pour réduire la fixation du cholestérol et des lipides des intestins. Les peptides .beta. peuvent agir comme inhibiteurs pour les protéines stimulantes (par exemple des protéines destructrices) et/ou comme précipitants de micelles de sel biliaire et de vésicules monolamellaires. Afin d'agir comme inhibiteur, ils doivent avoir un caractère amphipatique et former une structure hélicoïdale et, en tant que précipitant, ils ont besoin d'au moins deux charges positives placées de manière à permettre la précipitation du cholestérol et des lipides comprenant des micelles de sel biliaire et des vésicules monolamellaires dans les intestins.
