The invention concerns an agitator cover for the pigment can on paint agitating machines, of the type having an agitator shaft (7) mounted so as to allow it to move freely through the cover, having an axial rod (13) driven in rotation and having a lower agitator blade (15), the agitator shaft (7) suitable for being applied against the bottom (17) of the can through the thrust effect of the blade during agitation. According to the invention, the agitator shaft (7) has at its lower end an end fitting (31) that abuts the bottom of the can, this end fitting being fastened so as to allow it to rotate freely on the agitator shaft (7) and being fitted with at least three bottom protrusions (39) suitable for coming into contact with the surface of the bottom (17) of the can in the same plane perpendicular to the shaft.
