ABSTRACT An aiming mine includes an optical target detector (12) having at least one laser range finder. In order to be able to automatically detect and attack targets over a large azimuth angle range, the optical target detector rotates during the search process. The ranging values obtained from the at least one laser range finder are processed in a control and evaluation circuit (60) and are compared with measured values from an earlier time to obtain a firing signal. The corresponding reflection profiles are preferably also compared.
