The present invention relates to air bag tethers and to a pattern-wise arrangement of such tethers in relation to air bag panels on a fabric blank, thus resulting in increased fabric utilization per tether and an overall cost savings per finished air bag. The air bag tether system of the present invention is comprised of two congruent tether panels (16, 14) that are joined to one another and to a respective air bag panel. In a preferred embodiment, the tether panel (14) that is attached to the face panel (4) of the air bag is cut in alignment with the warp and the fill of the fabric blank, while the rear tether panel (16) that is attached to the rear panel (6) of the air bag is cut on the bias with respectto the warp and the fill of the fabric blank. The two tether panels are then connected to one another to form a functional tether system. This two-piece construction, with one bias-cut piece, decreases the amount of fabric that is used in the manufacture of the air bag and tethers, while providing sufficient elongation for the tether system to be functional.
L'invention concerne des attaches d'air bag et un agencement selon un certain motif desdites attaches par rapport aux panneaux de l'air bag, sur un pièce en tissu, permettant une utilisation optimisée du tissu par attache et une économie globale accrue par air bag fini. Le système d'attache d'air bag de l'invention est constitué de deux panneaux d'attache congruents, qui sont joints l'un à l'autre et à un panneau d'air bag respectif. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, le panneau d'attache qui est fixé au panneau frontal de l'air bag, est découpé, de manière qu'il soit aligné avec la chaîne et au garnissage de la pièce de tissu, alors que le panneau d'attache arrière fixé au panneau arrière de l'air bag est coupé dans le biais par rapport à la chaîne et le garnissage de la pièce de tissu.
