A new dryer section (20) of an existing dryer section of the two tier double- felted type has air caps (42) disposed over the upper dryer rolls (28) to simultaneously dry both sides of the web (26) to increase drying rates. The heated pressurized air is blown through multiple air impingement holes (48) in the air cap nozzle plates (46) to impinge the web (26) at a temperature of 500- 900 degrees Fahrenheit and air speeds of 20,000-40,000 feet per minute. The dryer fabric (30) employed is foraminous with a permeability of between 400- 1,200 cubic feet per minute per square foot and is designed to withstand peak temperatures of between 500-600 degrees Fahrenheit. The design of the air caps (42) utilizes recirculation of the blowing air to control drying rates.

L'invention porte sur une nouvelle section de séchage (20) se montant sur une section de séchage existante du type à deux étages de rouleaux et feutre double. La nouvelle section comporte des chapes (42) d'amenée d'air disposés au dessus des rouleaux sécheurs supérieurs (28) de manière à assurer simultanément le séchage des deux côtés de la bande (26) et accroître de ce fait la vitesse de séchage. De l'air comprimé, réchauffé et soufflé à travers les multiples trous d'éjection d'air (48) percés dans les plaques munies de buses d'air (46) de la chape, frappe la bande (26) à une température comprise entre 500 et 900 DEG F et une vitesse comprise entre 20 000 et 40 000 pieds/min. La toile de séchage (30) utilisée est poreuse et présente une perméabilité comprise entre 400 et 1200 pieds cubiques/min/pied carré; elle peut supporter des températures comprises entre 500 et 600 DEG F. Les chapes (42) sont conçues pour faire recirculer l'air soufflé et permettre de régler la vitesse de séchage.
