A B S T R A C T An air conditioner dehumidifier comprising coil portions cooled by chilled water or refrigerant. The number of coil portions which are active is related to the extent of sensible cooling required over an air conditioning environmental range, increasing to meet more sensible cooling requirements. Coolant flow decreases towards shut-off in one active portion upon reduction of sensible cooling requirements, whereupon controls effect increased coolant flow in the remaining coil portions, increasing the heat transfer coefficient and thereby dehumidification so that the ratio of latent to sensible cooling is increased. -1-
