AIR CONDITIONING DIFFUSER APPARATUS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flow control apparatus is for controlling flow of hot air through a ceiling mounted air conditioning discharge diffuser receiving supply air from a central air conditioning unit. The apparatus comprises a vertical duct connected to structure associated with a discharge diffuser cone, and a butterfly valve or damper assembly mounted within the duct to control flow through the duct. The damper assembly has a damper blade mounted on a spindle which is rotatable with respect to the duct. A temperature responsive coil rotates the spindle in response to temperature changes in the supply air so as to vary position of the blade within the duct to control flow therethrough. Threaded studs connect the spindle to the damper blade and permit easy angular adjustment of the damper blade with respect to the spindle to permit easy fine adjustment of opening and closing of the duct. For heating, the duct is opened, and some hot air is directed downwardly into the room, reducing stratification that would otherwise occur, while the balance of air is directed by the diffuser cones. For cooling, the duct is closed and all the cooler air is controlled by the diffuser cones to flow outwardly across the ceiling.
