Abstract: An air conditioning system for a building has a first thermal storage tank as a cold thermal source which is installed at a high place in the building, and a second thermal storage tank as a hot thermal source which is installed at a low place in the building. Air conditioners are installed at various heights between the first and second tanks, and a heat pipe system of the gravity type connects the air conditioners to the first and second tanks. This system dispenses with passages for water as the thermal medium at the places where the air conditioners are installed. The system makes it possible to lower the capacities of the air conditioning equipment, especially the capacity of the refrigerator included in the cold thermal source equipment.
