ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Each layer of both the primary and the secondary windings of the transformer is wound on radially spaced apart concentric tubular supports, so as to leave an air gap between adjacent windings. A fan is provided for blowing a cooling air stream through said air gaps. By means of this construction it is possible to provide a light weight, high rating transformer for use in power-frequency circuits and to provide for the removal of the heat generated by the power losses of the trans- former, without unduly increasing the weight of the core and the space requirements of the transformer itself.
