ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An air-cooled internal combustion engine with a cooling air blower driven by the internal combustion engine through a hydraulic coupling, the hydraulic coupling including an inner housing, the hydraulic coupling being controlled thermostatically by means of the flow of oil assigned thereto, by the degree of filling, as a function of the temperature of a component, of the exhaust gas, or of the heated cooling air, characterized in that, for the purpose of adaptation to ambient air pressure, the hydraulic coupling is filled with additional oil through an additional filling line controlled by a baro- metric pressure cell through an adjusting element, the hydraulic coupling being increased in size for the accommodation of this additional volume of oil.
