The invention is directed to an air directing device (1) for a hair dryer for acting upon the air stream (13) exiting from the hair dryer, in which an air directing member (3) is configured as an essentially tubular body having an air inlet opening (5) and an air outlet area (7). The mean air velocity at the outlet of the hair dryer is substantially equal to the mean air velocity in the air outlet area (7) of the air direct- ing device (1). The air outlet area (7) has a preferably unifacial air outlet opening (9), and the circumferential length (23, 25) of the air outlet opening (9) is substantially greater than the circumferential length of the air inlet opening (5).
